In an unbelievable move, the Iraq Parliament is getting ready to take off 2 months for summer vacation. Given all the things Iraq needs to get done, taking the summer off seems inappropriate. Perhaps our troops could take the summer off.
Of course, the US Congress is now outraged that the Iraq Parliament would take the summer off when there is so much to do. Hmmm.... When the president needed the war funding authorization what did congress do? They took a couple of weeks off for vacation (that is when Pelosi went on her Syria escapade). Of course, our congress has perfected the ability of getting nothing done while they are actually in session, so I am not sure what constitutes a vacation for them. Perhaps they need to educate the Iraq Parliament on how to stay in session but not get anything done.
Of course, the fact the Parliament might be headed to their district to connect with voters might have been lost in congressional outrage. Its been a long time since anyone in our congress really understood that they have voters in their district. Perhaps the Iraq Parliament is headed home to deal with regional issues.
More importantly, it would me great if the US Congress spent less time saying what is wrong in Iraq and instead spent some time working to help progress in Iraq.
